If there is one word that you do not often see or hear from people who talk about hentai, that word would be “beautiful.” Usually, people use the words sexy, hot, or fappable when describing a hentai’s art and animation. You would not hear about hentai being beautiful in the elegant sense of the term. Yet, Another Lady Innocent, or Front Innocent as it is called in Japan, has managed to proclaim itself as the Queen of that adjective in the hentai stratosphere.

It’s shocking how this hentai is almost 15 years old as of writing this review. If you had told me this was made this year, I would not have any doubts. Not only in how stunning the art of the characters and everything else but how fappable the characters even when they are not doing any sexual acts. Let’s face it, around 2004, especially before that, a lot of hentai OVAs have not aged well over time. There are, of course, some exceptions, and Another Lady Innocent is one of them.

The leading character designer is Satoshi Usushihara. He has a very distinct art style to his characters that you don’t often see in hentai or even anime in general. His attention to detail on the characters is fantastic. The line drawings of how they look, their proportions that fit well to the rest of their bodies, and the color saturation on their skin are eye candy to the max. It is a shame that he has not been as prolific as many people would want him to be in recent years. He had mostly been notable during the 90s and early 2000s when he did the artwork for the Langrisser and Growlanser games and various other manga and anime projects. The only notable project in the past ten years was a three-minute nine-episode anime called, Joshiochi!: 2-kai kara Onnanoko ga… Futtekita!?. Surely this man’s talent deserves to be spent on something more meatier than that. Like say, make a continuation of Another Lady Innocent?

Yeah, if you did not know, this hentai is only one episode. It is 29 minutes long, so it’s at least a normal-sized OVA as you would expect it to be and not a 16-minute afterbirth. However, when you’re near the end after the last sex scene, the credits showcase a teaser for the upcoming episode. Why no 2nd episode? Lack of funding, of course! It is a sad state of affairs when you work in the hentai industry and expect to get what you want. Because of this predicament, Another Lady Innocent suffers by being slightly close to being a perfect hentai. It is a shame because, as far as hentai goes, the story was starting to get interesting to see how the relationship between our main characters John, Fey, and Sophia was going to grow from here. There are characters that seemed like they were going to have some impact on the story but are only shown once and never again.

The sex scenes are very vanilla unless you count the credits sequence or a small scene involving a maid about to be gang-raped, but you don’t see much of either of them. In typical hentai fashion, they do reuse sex animations, especially the ones in the barn. However, because the art design is so well drawn and the fact that it was localized in the west so you can see the vagina and penis without any mosaic censoring is a blessing from the hentai gods. Seriously, watching this with censorship is a crime against humanity in how incredibly detailed Satoshi gave to the vulva and labia of a woman’s sweet nectar region. Whoever in Kitty Media decided it was a good idea to localize this, give that person a medal. It also has the hottest and cutest yuri sex scene I’ve ever seen that did not involve any toys, and that is coming from someone who does not care for non-hardcore yuri.

Any person that craves for hentai goodness should not pass up on this classic. I could see even people 30 years from when this was released to discover some great fap moments to spice up their evening. The fact that we may never get another OVA is a tragedy of epic scale. If Satoshi-sama does find the funds and budget to create a continuation of Another Lady Innocent, the world will be a better place to live in. Until then, we will be just fine fapping away to what we have now.
