Nana Review

NANA-anime-7290501-800-600

Love triumphs the human soul in ways we can’t really fathom, and how we can contain it also remains unexplained. Whether it is love in a romantic or friendly fashion, it has always been one of the most sought out themes in stories in every medium imaginable. We are used to the idealistic form of love with numerous tropes and literary devices, but now we’ve grown to appreciate the “realistic” forms of romance. Romance that tries to portray the reality we live in rather than what we hope reality will be. Nana can speak for itself as one anime to be an achievement of perfecting that level of story.

Sidonia no Kishi Review

Sidonia-no-Kishi-Anime-Wallpaper

Imagine a Sci-fi epic with the tenacity of becoming something of a psychological journey into the deep unknown. Many movies have captured the feelings of being out in the far reaches of interstellar travel in space rockets, or this case, giant mechas. With the help of talented writers, that dream can become real to prove to the viewers that it can retain that sci-fi glory and be significant to the genre. Feelings of wanting to destroy society to reconstruct its ideologies have been at the forefront of terrorist actions. Since the beginning of the 21st Century, lately has cropped up numerous terrorist acts across the globe. So, what better way of showcasing these horrific acts of violence than to make an anime where the terrorists are the protagonists? With Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe at the helm of production in Terror in Resonance, this was sure to be a fiery sensation like many of his previous works. Yet, despite the hype, it turns out to be a prime example of how not every show with a talented director will be a great project.

Persona 4 The Golden Animation Review

HorribleSubs-Persona-4-The-Golden-Animation-01-720p.mkv_snapshot_18.48_2014.07.11_16.18.46

What began as a triumphant success, both critically and commercially, in the gaming culture at large, even outside of the JRPG community, has now devolved into whoring itself out, Type-Moon style. That is not in of itself a negative connotation, as the spin-off games and the Vita port are great in their own right. However, the event that started the whole milking process started with the announcement of an entire adaptation of Persona 4 in anime form back in 2011. It would be of no surprise to anyone that it was a thing that, in the end, would be looked at as a project that could not be called anything but unnecessary.
